I’m an “infobiologist” (a molecular biologist turned bioinformatician) with a PhD in Industrial Biotechnology and a Master in Business Strategy.

I’ve been working as a wet lab Research Scientist at the University of Milano-Bicocca and the University of Washington, Seattle, USA; then I morphed myself into a data analysts at the National Institute of Molecular Genetics (INGM) in Milan, Italy. I currently work as a Bioinformatics Scientist in the Research Computing and Data Science unit at the AIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM-ETS).

In the last ten years I co-founded two companies, Genessere Srl (Health is not just a matter of DNA) and Revelo Datalabs Srl (Unconventional Training): I’m now affiliated with the latter only. I have extensive experience in advanced training in the field of biological omics analyses, data analysis and general data literacy.

I am the author of more than 50 scientific publications and the host of the data literacy podcast “Carsten”.

I’m interested in gene expression, methods for functional genomics, biological markers, machine learning, AI. I’m currently dedicating intellectual energy to change the landscape of data-driven training of both biomedical researchers and the general public.
